Aloha Nakatombetsu! This year, summer has been a long one and just recently have we　been experiencing autumn. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. You can see the　different colors of falling leaves and go hiking in the mountains or fishing in the river. It’ s　a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors. In Hawaii, we don’ t have four seasons. All year　round is a continuous pattern of summer and spring! Lovely, isn’ t it?
Let’ s learn some autumnal English phrases!

アロハ、中頓別町の皆さん!今年の夏は長かったですが、最近は秋らしい天気を感じていますね。僕は季節の中では秋が好きです。紅葉を見たり、登山したり、川釣りしたりすることができます。アウトドアを楽しめる時期ですね。ハワイには四季がありません。1年を通して夏と春の天気が続いています。良いでしょう?
秋らしい英会話の表現を勉強しましょう!

◆To turn over a new leaf ‒ やり直す(直訳：新しい葉っぱを裏返す)
Example： Lately, I haven’t been getting enough exercise. It’s time to turn over a　new leaf and start working out again.
例：最近、運動不足なんだよね…また新鮮な気分で運動し始めよう。

◆To feel under the weather ‒ 具合が悪い
Example： Sorry, I don’t think I can make it to the dinner tonight. I’m feeling a　
little under the weather. Maybe next time…
例：ごめんね。ちょっと具合が悪いので、今夜の飲み会に行けないかもしれない。また今度に行くね。

◆To drive someone nuts ‒ 誰かをイライラさせる
Example： Please turn down your music! I can hear it through your earphones and　it’s driving me nuts!
例：音楽の音量をちょっと下げてくれない?イヤホンから聞こえるんだけど…もう本当にもう!

◆Night Owl ‒ 夜遅くまで起きるのが好きな人(直訳：夜のフクロウ)
Example： I love staying up late to watch tv, so I guess you could call me a night owl.
例：テレビを見るために夜遅くまで起きるのが好きなので、「Night Owl」と呼ばれてもいいかもね。

◆Ghost Town ‒ 活動していない静かな場所
Example： My hometown is a ghost town after 9 pm! There’s nothing really open to go to.
例：地元は21時超えたら、店が全部しまって、どこにも行けないよ。お化けが出そうぐらい静かになっちゃう。
