Winter is here! Stay safe in the snowy weather!
Have you heard about Universal Design? Recently, 2nd　years learned about it in English class. Universal Design is　the design of items or places to make them easy to use　for all people. Universal Design is all around us, even if　we don’ t know. For example, signs or elevator buttons　with braille for people who can’ t see, or ramps for　wheelchair users. Larger bathrooms are also Universal　Design.
There are lots more small examples of Universal Design as well. For example, the way water　bottles are designed makes them easier to hold for everyone. There are also erasers that are　shaped differently to make them easy to use. Are your shampoo and conditioner bottles　different colors? That’ s also an example of Universal Design, because the colors make it　easy to see which one is which.

ユニバーサルデザインについて聞いたことがありますか?最近、2年生が英語の授業で勉強しました。ユニバーサルデザインとは、全ての人が使いやすいように商品や場所をデザインすることです。私たちが分からなくても、周りにあります。例えば、目が見えない人には点字の標識やエレベーターボタン、車椅子利用者にはスロープなどがあります。より大きなトイレもユニバーサルデザインです。
小さなユニバーサルデザインもたくさんあります。例えば、ペットボトルのデザインは誰でも持ちやすいように設計されています。使いやすいように形が通常とは違う消しゴムもあります。シャンプーとリンスの色は違いますか?これもユニバーサルデザインの一例です。色を見るとどちらがどちらであるのか分かりやすいからです。
