Hello everyone,
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas! Christmas in America is a special time to spend with familyand friends, and I was lucky enough to travel to Los Angeles to see my family for the holidays. Itwas funny to see palm trees and my older brother wearing shorts on Christmas day after spendingso much time in snowy Hokkaido!
Just like how Japanese people visit shrines on New Years, many people in America visit churcheson Christmas Eve to celebrate together, and my family was able to do so together this year before spending the next dayat home exchanging presents and eating traditional Christmas foods like ham.
After Christmas, I said goodbye to my family and traveled back to Aibetsu just in time for New Years, and I was able to visitAibetsu shrine at midnight and see the beautiful decorations and welcome the new year. I am excited to see what this yearbrings and I am happy to have been able to celebrate it in Aibetsu!

あけましておめでとうございます。そして、メリークリスマス!アメリカのクリスマスは家族と過ごす特別な時期で、私は幸運にも休暇中に家族と会うためにロサンゼルスへ旅行することができました。雪の北海道でたくさんの時間を過ごした後、クリスマスの日にヤシの木と兄の短パン姿を見るのは面白かったです。
日本でお正月に神社へ参拝するように、アメリカでもクリスマスイブに教会を訪れてみんなでお祝いをする人が多いです。今年、私の家族はそれをすることができ、翌日には家でプレゼント交換をしたり、ハムなどの伝統的なクリスマス料理を食べたりして過ごしました。
クリスマスの後、私は家族に別れを告げ、お正月に間に合うように愛別へ戻りました。そして、愛別神社へ真夜中に参拝し、美しい飾り付けを見て新年を迎えることができました。今年がどんな年になるのか楽しみですし、愛別で祝うことができて嬉しいです!
