◇National Pension
All residents of Japan, regardless of nationality, are required to join the National Pension System (Type 1 insured) when they turn 20 years old, with the exception of company employees, public servants and their dependent spouses. You don’t need to go through any procedures to join the National Pension System. Within approximately two weeks of your 20th birthday, the Japan Pension Service will send you contribution payment notices and the Basic Pension Number Notice Card via postal mail. If you don’t receive your “Notice for Enrollment in National Pension System” after approximately two weeks of your 20th birthday, you are required to do the enrollment procedures. The monthly contribution amount is 16,520 yen (for the fiscal year of 2023). ◇Filing Resident Tax Returns
Resident tax returns will be accepted for filing from February 16 (Fri) through March 15 (Fri). At the end of January, resident tax return forms will be sent out to t hose who filed a resident tax return in the previous fiscal year. Forms are available at Shiminzei-ka (2F of City Hall) and City Hall branch offices. They can be downloaded from the Ageo City website as well. You can file a resident tax return by sending the filing to Shiminzei-ka by post, by dropping it at the acceptance box located at Shiminzei-ka, or filing a return at the office which will be temporarily set up for each area.
