■初めての遠足!初めての芋ほり!
Hello everyone!
It’s been a long time since I wrote for this newsletter!
Now, I am well into my second year living here in Asagiri! I have enjoyed working in so many different schools, and this year I am having so much fun teaching at Menda and Okaharu Elementary schools! The students are all so energetic and always want to speak English with me.They teach me about school life and life in Asagiri, too!
Recently, I have been joining local festivals, school events, and even some school trips. For example, last fall I joined one of my nursery schools and together we went to harvest sweet potatoes. We were able to find so many, and some of them were very large! The children had a lot of fun searching for potatoes and bugs in the dirt, and together we enjoyed learning about farming in Asagiri! Schools in America usually take field trips to learn more about science or history, so it was fun for me to experience a school trip in Japan for the first time and learn about agriculture.
I am always thankful for these experiences and I’m excited for all of the future events, too!

みなさん、こんにちは!
広報の記事を書くのは久しぶりです!
あさぎり町での暮らしも2年目に突入しました!いろんな学校で働けることができて楽しいです。今年度は免田小学校と岡原小学校でとても楽しく授業を行っています。生徒たちはものすごく元気でいつも私に英語で話しかけてくれます。みんな学校生活のことやあさぎり町での生活について教えてくれます!
最近は、地元のお祭りや、学校行事、そして遠足にも参加しました。たとえば、去年の秋には保育園のみんなとサツマイモの収穫に行きました。みんなでたくさんのお芋を見つけることができましたが、中にはとっても大きなお芋もありました!園児たちはお芋探しや土の中の虫探しに夢中でした。みんなで一緒にあさぎりの農業を体験できて楽しかったです。
アメリカの学校では通常、科学や歴史について学ぶために遠足に行くので、初めての日本の遠足や農業体験はとても楽しい充実したものになりました。
私はいつも、こうした経験に感謝しています。そして、今後経験していくすべてのイベントが楽しみです!
