Hello everyone! Long time no see. How was your New Year’s celebration?
I went back to America for New Year’s.Even though I wanted to experience the New Year’s celebration in Japan, I am glad I was able to go home and see my family.
New Year’s in America is a lot of fun, it’s one big party! Americans will get together on December the 30th and stay up all night.Usually, friends will gather together and have a house party.They will eat dinner together or just have a lot of snacks like chips or cookies.Often, we will play board games to pass the time until midnight. American’s love card games,trivia games, and anything that makes us laugh!Everyone must stay awake until midnight because that’s when we celebrate the New Year.We all closely watch the clock until the last 10 seconds before midnight and then count down “10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,HAPPY NEW YEAR!”We celebrate by going outside in the cold winter air and yelling “HAPPY NEW YEAR!” to our neighbors and making lots of noise with noise makers, such as a recorder.And of course, there are always fireworks to be seen.Many people will buy their own fireworks and set them off in their neighborhood.

こんにちは、みなさん!久しぶりですね。お正月はいかがでしたか?
私は、新年にアメリカに帰省しました。日本のお正月を経験してみたいとは思いましたが、帰省して家族に会えたのは嬉しかったです。
アメリカのお正月は大きなパーティーみたいでとても楽しいです!アメリカ人は12月30日にみんな集まって一晩中起きています。ほとんどの人は、友達と集まってホームパーティーをします。一緒に夕食を食べたり、クッキーやチップスみたいなおやつを食べたりします。真夜中になるまでボードゲームなんかをすることが多いです。アメリカ人はカードゲームや雑学的なゲームなど、とにかくみんなで笑えるゲームが大好きです。みんな新年を祝うために真夜中まで起きていなければなりません。0時の10秒前まで注意深く時計を見張ってカウントダウン…「10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,明けましておめでとう!」みんなで冬の寒い空気の中に飛び出て近所の人々に向かって「明けましておめでとうございます!」と叫んで笛とか音が鳴るものを鳴らしながら騒ぎます。そしてもちろん、花火も上がったりします。多くの人が個人的に花火を買って家の周辺で打ちあげます。
