最近、私の住むカリフォルニアでは奇妙な天候が続いています。

まず、今年の5月初旬には、カリフォルニアの多くの場所からオーロラが見られました。これは、太陽からの「コロナ質量放出」(嵐のようなもの)が多発したためです。地球の磁場がしばらくの間変化し、はるか南の方からオーロラが見えるようになりました。

次に、6月には「ヒートドーム」と呼ばれる現象が発生しました。米国南西部の多くの場所が非常に暑くなり、私の故郷では103°F(39.4°C)でしたが、ラスベガスでは110°F(43°C)でした。6月初旬としては非常に暖かいですね。

最後に、今年の夏は記録上最も暑い夏になると予想されています。私の故郷では、記録は116°F(46.6°C)で、今年はそれを破らないことを願っています。私の故郷は暑い場所ですが、ますます暑くなっています。もっとエコな暮らしを頑張っていきたいと思いました!

Hello everyone,

I’ve been looking at some strange weather my home in California has been having recently.

First, in early May this year, the northern lights were visible from many places in California. This was due to a lot of “Coronal Mass Ejections” (like storms) from the Sun. It changed the Earth’s magnetic field for a little while, which let us see the lights from very far south!

Next, in June, there was something called a “Heat Dome.” Many places in the South-West of the USA became very hot, in my home town it was 103°F (39.4°C),but in Las Vegas it was 110°F (43°C). That’s very warm for early June!

Finally, this summer is predicted to be one of the hottest on record. In my hometown, the record is 116°F (46.6°C),I hope we don’t break it this year! My home is a hot place, but it’s getting hotter all the time. It makes me want to work hard at living a more eco-friendly life!
