Hello, it’s Diego!
On the 23rd of November, I hosted a Friendsgiving celebration! Friendsgiving is a portmanteau of Friends and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is an American tradition that’s celebrated with family. We ALTs are living on our own in Japan so we celebrated it with each other, hence Friendsgiving. We all cooked many delicious dishes such as chicken wings, pork belly, mac and cheese, french fries, mexican rice, tortillas, cookies, etc. The meals were so good that it makes us want to do more potlucks more often. Nothing beats old fashioned home cooked meals with good company.

11月23日、私はフレンズギビングのお祝いを催しました!フレンズギビングとは、フレンズ(友達)とサンクスギビング(感謝祭)の合成語です。サンクスギビングは家族と一緒に祝うアメリカの伝統行事です。私たちALTは日本で一人暮らしをしているので、みんなでサンクスギビングをお祝いしました。フライドチキン、豚ばら、マッケンチーズ、フライドポテト、メキシカンライス、トルティーヤ、クッキーなどなど。とても美味しかったので、これからもっと頻繁にポットラックをやりたいと思います。気の置けない友達との古き良き家庭料理に勝るものはないな。
