Hello everyone, another month has arrived.
みなさんこんにちは、今月もやってきました。ALTのコナーです。

This month,my parents are visiting Japan；this will be their first time in Asia.I am excited to show them around Imabetsu Town；I have been keeping a list of my favorite spots…hopefully we can navigate through the snow.
今月は私の両親が日本を訪れます。彼らにとって初めてのアジアです。私は今別町を案内するのが楽しみで、お気に入りのスポットをリストアップしているところです。雪の中を案内できるといいのだけど。

In America, people are preparing for Christmas.While Christmas is not until December 25th, many people like to set up Christmas decorations at the beginning of the month；some people even begin in November.
アメリカでは人々はクリスマスの準備をしています。クリスマスは12月25日までですが、クリスマスの飾り付けを月初めからしたい人が多いです。中には11月から始める人もいます。

You may know that on Christmas Day, families and friends come together and exchange gifts.Children enjoy receiving presents from Santa Claus,a mystical figure who visits households through the chimney；that’s a cramped entrance!Did you know that Santa Claus is inspired by a real person,St.Nicholas?He was a famous Catholic saint who gave gifts under the cover of night.
クリスマスに家族や友人が集まってプレゼント交換をするのは知っていますよね。子どもたちは煙突から各家庭を訪れる神秘的な存在であるサンタクロースからプレゼントをもらうのを楽しみにしています。
ところで、サンタクロースは実在の人物、聖ニコラスにインスパイアされていることをご存知ですか?
彼はカトリックの有名な聖人で、夜陰に紛れて贈り物をした人です。

While Christmas Day is the main event, many people also celebrate on Christmas Eve with a feast.Christmas Eve dinners are often similar to Thanksgiving dinners, but with some variations to the menu；instead of roast turkey, many people eat roast ham. My favorite part of the feast is Egg Nog,a creamy drink made with custard.
クリスマスは当日がメインイベントですが、イヴにもごちそうを食べてお祝いする人が多いです。クリスマスイヴのディナーはサンクスギビングのディナーと似ていることが多いですが、メニューに若干違いがあり、七面鳥の代わりにハムを食べる人が多いです。私が一番好きなクリスマスのごちそうはカスタードで作るクリーミーな飲み物の「エッグノック」です。

I hope that everyone in Imabetsu gets the chance to spend quality time with their families；this will be my first winter in the North, so I look forward to cozying under the Kotatsu with my parents.Happy Holidays!
