みなさん、こんにちは。ALTのコナーです。

May marks 9 months in Imabetsu. It is the longest I have lived by myself； while I dearly miss my family in America and Germany, I am very happy with my life in Japan. However, with Mother’s Day coming later this month, I realize that this will be the first time I cannot celebrate Mother’s Day with my own mother. So, today, I want to talk about my mother and how we celebrate Mother’s Day in America.
5月で今別は9ヶ月になります。これは私が一人で暮らした中で最も長い期間です。アメリカとドイツにいる家族が恋しいですが、日本での生活にとても満足しています。しかし、今月下旬に母の日が近づいてきて、自分の母と一緒に母の日を祝うことができないのは初めてだということに気づきました。そこで、今日は私の母について、そしてアメリカでの母の日の祝い方についてお話ししたいと思います。

Like Japan, people in America celebrate Mother’s Day by giving their mother flowers. I understand that the Carnation is very popular in Japan； however, in America, many people gift their mother a bouquet with multiple types of flowers. My mother is partial to tulips.
日本と同じように、アメリカでも母の日を母親に花を贈って祝います。カーネーションは日本でとても人気があるそうです。しかし、アメリカでは、多くの人が複数の種類の花を使った花束を母親にプレゼントします。私の母はチューリップが大好きです。
