みなさん、こんにちは。ALTのコナーです。

I’m happy to be back in Imabetsu. As mentioned in the previous edition of Conner’s Corner, I recently visited my hometown in Germany to spend Christmas and New Year’s Day with my family.
今別町に戻れて嬉しいです。前回の「コナーのコーナー」で述べたように、私は最近、クリスマスと元旦を家族と過ごすためにドイツの故郷を訪れました。

Shortly after arriving in Germany, I met up with my Mom, Dad, Grandmother, Grandfather, and Brother. My parents both work in Germany, so they still live in my hometown, but my Grandparents and Brother flew all the way from America to join us for the holidays. We visited many beautiful cities, such as Speyer, Trier, and Bernkastel-Keus. These cities are rich in history； the Porta Nigra, a giant Roman city gate, stands in the center of Tier, a reminder of when the Roman Empire stretched across almost all of Europe.
ドイツに到着してすぐに、私は母、父、祖母、祖父、弟に会いました。私の両親は2人ともドイツで働いているので、今も私の故郷に住んでいますが、祖父母と弟は休暇のためにアメリカからはるばる飛行機で来てくれました。私たちはシュパイヤー、トリーア、ベルンカステルケウスなど、多くの美しい都市を訪れました。これらの都市には豊かな歴史があります。ティアの中心には巨大なローマの城門、ポルタ・ニグラが立っており、ローマ帝国がヨーロッパのほぼ全土に広がっていた時代を偲ばせます。

These cities are also rich in delicious food! We visited a Christmas Market in Speyer； with fresh sausages, pretzels,crepes, and french fries at each stall, it was hard to choose what to eat. My favorite was actually a drink called “Eierpunsch” ； it’s an alcoholic drink that tastes like custard cream, similar to the American drink “Egg Nog”.
これらの都市には美味しい食べ物もたくさんあります!私たちはシュパイアーのクリスマスマーケットを訪れました。各屋台には新鮮なソーセージ、プレッツェル、クレープ、フライドポテトが並び、何を食べようか迷ってしまいます。実は私のお気に入りは「アイアープンシュ」という飲み物でした。アメリカの飲み物「エッグノッグ」に似た、カスタードクリームのような味わいのお酒です。

However, the best part of my trip was spending time with my family. This was my first Christmas with my Grandmother, and experiencing it as an adult has been very special. Thank you for reading； I hope you get to spend quality time with the people you love.
しかし、私の旅行で一番良かったのは家族と一緒に時間を過ごしたことです。祖母と一緒に過ごす初めてのクリスマスでしたが、大人になってから経験するのはとても特別なものでした。読んでいただきありがとうございます。
