◇他国のバレンタインデー
バレンタインデーは2月14日に祝われ、祝日ではないにもかかわらず、男女が愛する人に花やチョコレートを贈ったりもらったりする絶好の機会です!もともとは、バレンタインという殉教した聖人に敬意を表し、祝宴を催す日でした。今では、オーストラリア人はプレゼントを買ったり、愛を祝うロマンチックなバレンタイン・イベントを共有したりして楽しんでいます。
私の理想のバレンタインデーは、夫から花束をもらって、夫にチョコレートを贈り、午後に一緒にピクニックに行くことです!(オーストラリアは2月が夏だということをお忘れなく!)。また、ジュエリーをもらったり、ロマンチックなレストランで食事を楽しんだりする人もいます。オーストラリアの若い人たちにとって、チョコレートやバラを友人や恋人に贈ることは、とてもロマンチックなことです。匿名で贈る人もいます!
オーストラリアやアメリカでは、バレンタインデーには男性も女性もプレゼントを贈ったり受け取ったりするので、日本ではどのようにバレンタインデーを祝うのか、疑問に思いました。バレンタインデーに女性から男性にチョコレートを贈るのが一般的だと聞いて驚きました!そして、ホワイトデーと呼ばれる、男性から女性にプレゼントを贈る日もあるそうですね!

◇Valentine’s Day in Other Countries !
Valentine’ s day is celebrated on the 14th of February, and even though it is not a public holiday it is always a great excuse for men and women to give and receive flowers and chocolates from their loved ones!
It wasn’ t always a commercially celebrated event； it was originally a day to honour the martyred saint named Valentine by having a feast! Nowadays　Australians enjoy buying gifts and sharing a romantic Valentine’ s activity to celebrate their love.
My ideal Valentine’s Day is receiving flowers and gifting chocolates to my husband and then going on a nice picnic together in the afternoon!( Don’ t forget that February is Summer in Australia!). Others enjoy receiving jewellery and wining and dining at romantic restaurants!
For the younger people of Australia, simply giving a chocolate or a rose to your friends or love interests is a large romantic gesture! Some even send these gifts anonymously!
In Australia and the US both men and women give and receive gifts on Valentine’s Day, so I wondered how Japan celebrated Valentine’s Day. I was surprised to hear that only women give chocolate to men on Valentine’s Day! And also, that there was a day called White Day, when men give gifts to women!
