■Before Sunny Summer,there’s Rainy Summer!　
I thought that summer in Japan is going to be just plain sunny days. But I noticed in the past few weeks, rainy days have been pretty consistent.
When I looked for some information on internet, I found out that Japan’s rainy season starts in early summer, between May and July. But this however, depends on the region.　
This period is called Tsuyu (also pronounced baiyu) which means “plum rain” as the season coincides with the ripening of the country’s plums.
Fukushima prefecture is located at the southernmost tip of Tohoku region. The average start date for rainy season here is June 12th and typically ends on July 25th.
So, what should we expect in this rainy season?
As evident in these past few weeks, the weather is unpredictable. There can be heavy rain and storms at any time, and there are days without a single drop of rain. Even though this season is known for its cooler temperatures, there can still be sunny and hotter days.
Having this season, always take extra precautions as sometimes this climate change can cause common flu like cough and fever. Do not forget to drink a lot of water. A cup of warm herbal tea is perfect for rainy season. Take care!

■晴れの夏の前に、雨の夏があります!
日本の夏はただの晴れの日ばかりだと思っていました。しかし、ここ数週間、雨の日がかなり続いていることに気づきました。
インターネットで情報を調べてみると、日本の梅雨は初夏の5月から7月に始まることが分かりました。ただし、これは地域によって異なります。
この期間は、梅が熟す時期と一致するため、「梅の雨」を意味する「梅雨」(バイユとも発音)と呼ばれます。
福島県は東北地方の最南端に位置します。ここの平均的な雨季の開始日は6月12日で、通常は7月25日に終わります。
さて、この梅雨の季節には何を期待すべきでしょうか?
ここ数週間で明らかなように、天気は予測不可能です。大雨や嵐はいつでも起こる可能性があり、一滴も雨が降らない日もあります。この季節は気温が低いことで知られていますが、それでも晴れて暑い日が続くことがあります。
この季節には、気候変動により、咳や発熱などの一般的なインフルエンザが発生する可能性があるため、常に細心の注意を払ってください。水をたくさん飲むことを忘れないでください。温かいハーブティーは梅雨の季節にぴったりです。お気をつけて!
