■Driving in Japan
“Come along and take a ride.” I’ve been driving in Japan for almost seven months. I didn’t like it at first because I’m afraid to drive here and it’s not where I used to drive. It is completely different from the Philippines. I’ll tell you what the differences are. In the Philippines, the steering wheel is on the left side of the car, whereas in Japan, it is on the right side. Also, we always keep right, but in Japan, we always keep left. There are several things I noted, but the two examples I provided are the most significant. I never imagined that after almost 7 months, I grew to like driving. Who would have guessed that the things I like and dislike would alter. So far, the longest distance I’ve driven is from Iwaki to Sendai. It was actually a lot of fun and a fantastic experience.

What I also enjoy about driving now is that I can listen to music and do my karaoke session before and after school. I listen to worship songs before I go to school to bless my day and have an awesome day in short. I like “Still” and “Ocean” by Hillsong. Additionally, Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Reggae music, Blackpink, Sistar, Imagine Dragons, Taylor Swift, Carpenters, Lady Gaga, Japanese songs like Mirae by Kiroro, and certain Tagalog songs are always on my playlist. It improves my mood, especially when I listen to Matisyahu’s “One Day.” You can look it up online. This is a reggae tune. If you happen to run into me anywhere, please tell me how you feel about this song.

■日本での運転
「一緒に乗ってください。」私は約7か月間、日本で運転しています。慣れない車線での日本での車の運転は怖くて、最初のころは運転が好きではありませんでした。フィリピンとは全く違います。どのような違いがあるのか説明します。フィリピンでは車のハンドルは左側にありますが、日本はハンドルが右側にあります。また、私たちは常に右側車線通行ですが、日本では常に左側車線通行です。他にも違いはありますが、この2つの例が最も大きな違いです。しかし、想像もしていませんでしたが、7か月近く経過していつの間にか運転が好きになっていたのは驚きです。嫌いだったことが好きになるとは誰も予想できなかったと思います。これまでに私が運転した最長距離はいわきから仙台までです。本当にとても楽しくて素晴らしい経験でした。

また、今のドライブ中の楽しみは、学校への通勤または帰りに音楽を聴いたり、カラオケをしたりすることです。私は通勤前には、祝福を受け素晴らしい一日を過ごせるよう、キリスト教の賛美歌を聴きいています。ヒルソングの「Still」と「Ocean」が大好きです。さらに、マルーン5、ブルーノ・マーズ、レゲエ音楽、K-popのBlackpinkやSistar、イマジンドラゴンズ、テイラー・スウィフト、カーペンターズ、レディー・ガガ、Kiroroの「未来へ」などの日本の曲、そして、タガログ語の歌が常に私のプレイリストに入っています。特にマティスヤフの「One Day」を聴くと気持ちが高揚します。インターネットで調べてみてください。この曲はレゲエです。どこかで私に出会った時には、この曲の感想を教えてくださいね。
