Hello!
As many of you know, my time in Aibetsu has officially come to an end, and I have now returned to Canada! When I first arrived in Aibetsu, I remember being terrified. I didn’t understand or speak Japanese then, and I didn’t have any friends in the area.But as time went on, life in Aibetsu became not only easy but very enjoyable!
Before coming to Aibetsu, I felt very lost in life. Since the start of the pandemic, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life anymore. I’ll always be grateful for my time spent in Aibetsu because living here has brought me the clarity I need in order to move forward in my life!
Getting to interact with the locals, and my students especially, reminded me of the things I am passionate about. I get to go back to Canada feeling more at ease with my life because of my time here. I’m also a much kinder, more patient person because of all of you.
I will always consider this town my home, and I will never forget you. To the townspeople, thank you for your patience and kind greetings. To the Eikaiwa women, thank you for your kindness and friendship. To the staff at the Board of Education, thank you for helping me along the way. To the staff at the Junior High School, thank you for making me feel like part of the team. Finally, to my students, thank you most of all for teaching me about life. I hope all of you remain well! お世話になりました!

皆さんこんにちは!
ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、私の愛別での生活は正式に終わりを迎え、カナダに帰りました。初めて愛別を訪れた時は、不安でいっぱいだったことを覚えています。当時私は、日本語も理解できず話せなかったですし、友達もいませんでした。しかし、時間が経つにつれ、愛別での生活に慣れていくだけでなく、愛別での生活がとても楽しくなりました。
愛別に来る前、私は人生にとても迷っていました。新型コロナウイルスの世界的な大流行が始まって以降、自分が人生で何をしたいのか分かりませんでした。愛別での生活は、自分の人生を前進させるために必要なことを明確にしてくれたのでいつも感謝しています。地元の人たち、特に生徒たちとの交流は、私が情熱を注いでいるものを思い出させてくれました。ここでの生活のおかげで、自分の人生により安らぎを感じてカナダに帰ることができました。皆さんのおかげで私はより優しく、辛抱強くなれました。
私はこの町をいつまでも自分の故郷だと思い、皆さんのことを決して忘れません。町民の皆さん、親切な挨拶をしてくれてありがとうございました。英会話教室の皆さん、親切と友情に感謝します。教育委員会の職員の皆さん、大変お世話になりありがとうございました。中学校の職員の皆さん、チームの一員だと感じさせてくれてありがとうございました。最後に生徒の皆さん、私に人生について教えてくれてありがとうございました。皆さんが元気でいられることを願っています。お世話になりました!
