Do you know about April Fool’s Day? It is a holiday dedicated to jokes, pranks, and making people laugh. April Fool’s pranks tend to vary, from small inconveniences, like hiding a banana in a friend’s desk, to large-scale operations, like in 1957, when the BBC (British Broadcasting Service) made a fictional commercial about trees that could grow spaghetti. I have never been very good at pranks,but I hope to come up with something good this year. To my co-workers, please be careful to check your desk drawers.
エイプリルフールについてご存知ですか?ジョークやいたずら、人々を笑わせることを目的とした祝日です。エイプリルフールのいたずらは、友人の机にバナナを隠すような小さなものから、1957年にBBC(英国放送協会)がスパゲッティを栽培できる木についての架空のコマーシャルを制作したときのような大規模なものまで、さまざまです。私はいたずらがあまり得意ではありませんでしたが、今年は何か面白いことを考えたいと思っています。同僚の皆さん、机の引き出しには注意してください。

Another big event that normally happens in April is Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday does not have a set date； instead, it is calculated as the first Sunday following the first full moon after the Spring Equinox.
This year, Easter Sunday has already past, as it was celebrated on March 31st, but next year it will be celebrated on April 20th. While it has a wide variety of dates, I have always associated it with April.
例年4月に行われるもう1つの大きなイベントはイースターサンデーです。イースターサンデーには決まった日付がなく、春分の日後の最初の満月の次にくる日曜日とされています。今年のイースターサンデーは3月31日に祝われたためすでに過ぎていますが、来年は4月20日に祝われます。イースターにはさまざまな日付がありますが、私はいつも 4 月を連想してしまいます。

Easter Sunday is originally a significant Christian holiday, though it has also become a popular holiday that many people, especially children, celebrate outside of religion. A popular activity on Easter Sunday is to create Easter Eggs； these are eggs that are painted with beautiful colors and decorated with elaborate patterns. Sometimes people will boil the eggs before painting, but in Germany, it is popular to hollow the egg by drilling a hole on each end of a raw egg and blowing the yolk out of the shell. If you have any crayons, markers, or paint at home, as well as some eggs, I recommend trying to make some eggs yourself； just remember to use the eggs before they go rotten.
イースターサンデーはもともとキリスト教の重要な祝日ですが、今では多くの人々、特に子供たちが宗教に関係なく祝う人気の祝日になりました。イースターサンデーの人気のアクティビティは、イースターエッグを作成することです。美しい色で塗られ、手の込んだ模様が施された卵です。卵をゆでてから絵を描く人もいますが、ドイツでは生卵の両端にドリルで穴を開け、卵黄を殻から取り出すことで卵を空洞にするのが一般的です。もし家にクレヨン、マーカー、絵の具、そして卵があれば、自分で卵を作ってみることをお勧めします。卵が腐る前に使い切ることを忘れないでください。
