●Halloween
Kamusta! Halloween is almost here! It’ s a great time to decorate your place, go to theme parks, watch horror movies, play horror games, and many m ore! However, celebrating Halloween in Japan is different. This holiday is a bit more child-friendly in this country. So I’ m here to talk about the difference between Japanese Halloween and Filipino Halloween. Like in western countries, doing things such as decorating your house, having costume parties, trick or treat are common during Halloween. But my favorite things to do during Halloween in the Philippines are c amping, telling scary stories to kids and friends, and visiting families and friends who passed away. I’ ve always been a big fan of horror. I like to watch Asian horror movies and play horror games. So, going outside with other people and telling scary stories to each other while camping is a great chance to make new friends as people listen to new storie s and a chance of meeting someone with similar experiences. The other thing I like to do during Halloween is to go to the cemetery and visit people who are no longer here. November 1st is known as All Saints’ Day. Now you might think that Halloween in the Philippines is boring or serious. But in reality, spending Halloween in the cemetery is actually a lot of fun. This event serves as a s mall reunion for families and friends who only see each other once a year.

●フィリピンのハロウィーン
カムスタ!このコラムを書いている今は、もうすぐハロウィーンが来る時期になります。家を飾り付けたり、テーマパークに行ったり、ホラー映画を見たり、ホラーゲームをしたりするのに良い季節です。しかし、フィリピンのハロウィーンは日本と違います。日本では少し子供に優しいイベントになっています。そこで、今月はフィリピンのハロウィーンについてお話ししようと思います。
西洋諸国と同様に、日本ではハロウィーンの期間は家の飾り付け、コスチュームパーティー、トリックオアトリートなどのことをするのが一般的です。しかし、フィリピンのハロウィーンで私が好きなことは、キャンプをすること、子供や友人に怖い話をすること、お墓参りをして亡くなった家族や友人を訪ねることです。
私は昔からホラー物の大ファンでした。アジアのホラー映画を見たり、ホラーゲームをしたりするのが好きです。ですから、キャンプ中に見知らぬ誰かと怖い話をすることは、新しい友達を作る絶好の機会であり、似た経験を持つ誰かと出会うチャンスでした。
ハロウィーンの間に私がしたいもう一つのことは、お墓参りをすることです。フィリピンでは11月1日は「オールセインツデー(諸聖人の日)」として知られています。皆さんはフィリピンのハロウィーンを退屈だと思うかもしれません。しかしお墓に参って今は亡き人々と過ごすのはとても良いことです。
