Hello everyone, this is Connor.February is my favorite month because my birthday is on the 21st, and my father’s is the nextday, on the 22nd. My mother often said, “You were your father’s birthday present.” Since then,celebrating our birthdays together over two days has become a tradition. My father always lets me blow out the candles on his birthday and says, “I don’t need to celebrate mine. Celebrating yours is enough.”

In the United States, our birthdays sometimes coincide with Presidents’ Day, a holiday that honors many presidents born in February. When this happens, we take advantage of the long weekend to travel, even in the cold.Every year, we celebrated by going to our favorite Japanese restaurant and enjoying udon and tempura. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed in 2023 while I was studying abroad in Hyogo, so that year we had ramen instead.

This month, I’ll turn 23. I hope to enjoy a warm bowl of udon for my birthday here in Aibetsu. My 22nd year was fulfi lling—Imoved to Aibetsu, bought my fi rst car, and met wonderful people. I’m looking forward to making my 23rd year even better andcan’t wait to celebrate my birthday here.

2月は私の好きな月で、21日が私の誕生日、翌22日は父の誕生日です。母はよく「あなたはお父さんへの誕生日プレゼントだったのよ」と言ってくれました。それ以来、2日間続く合同のお祝いが恒例となりました。父はいつも自分の誕生日のろうそくを私に吹き消させてくれて、「自分の誕生日を祝う必要はない。君の誕生日を祝うだけで十分だ」と言ってくれました。
アメリカでは、私たちの誕生日が「大統領の日」と重なることがあります。多くの大統領が2月生まれなので、まとめて祝う祝日です。この日と重なる年は、寒さにも負けず長い休暇を利用して、旅行に出かけていました。
毎年、誕生日には家族でお気に入りの日本料理店へ行き、うどんと天ぷらを楽しんでいましたが、2023年に閉店してしまいました。その年は、兵庫に留学していて代わりにラーメンを食べました。
今月で23歳になります。愛別町で迎える誕生日は、温かいうどんを食べたいです。22歳の一年は充実していて、愛別町に来て初めて車を購入し、素晴らしい方々に出会うことができました。23歳の一年もより良い一年になることを楽しみにしています。
