Spring is finally here!!!
I enjoyed my first Hokkaido winter, but I am ready for spring. I am ready for the snow to melt, for the weather to get warmer, and for the days to get longer. There are also many spring activities I want to do here in Hokkaido. I have never seen Sakura blossoms, so I want to travel around Hokkaido and see as many as possible and visit the flower parks. Now that it is warmer, I also want to visit the Asahiyama Zoo. I am most excited for the seasonal spring food in Hokkaido. I finally get to try Hokkaido’s fresh Sea Urchin!
I have been enjoying the new school year here at Nakatombetsu Middle School as well. It is great to see the 2nd and 3rd graders continue to improve their English skills. It has also been fun to start working with the new 1st graders on their English. They are learning quickly and seem to enjoy learning English, so I am looking forward to seeing them learn and grow in their English skills over the next three years. Now that the Elementary School and Middle School are in one building, I have been able to see and interact with the Elementary students more often. It is always fun to see them and say “Hello!” to them and hear them say “Hello!” back.
いよいよ春がやってきました!!!
初めての北海道の冬は楽しかったですが、春を楽しみにしています。雪が解け、天気が暖かくなり、日が長くなるのが楽しみです。北海道の春にやりたいことがたくさんあります。桜を見たことがないので、北海道を一周して、できるだけ多くの花見をして、公園やいろんなところを訪ねたいです。暖かくなったので旭山動物園にも行ってみたいです。北海道の旬の春の食べ物が一番楽しみです。ついに北海道の新鮮なウニを食べることができます!
中頓別中学校でも新学期を楽しんでいます。2・3年生が英語力を向上させ続けているのは素晴らしいことです。新しい1年生と一緒に英語の勉強を始めたのも楽しかったです。彼らは早く学んでいて、英語を学ぶことを楽しんでいるようなので、今後3年間で英語力を身につけ、成長していく姿を楽しみにしています。小学校と中学校が一つの建物になった今、私は小学生たちをよく見かけ交流することができました。小学生を見て、「こんにちは!」と言って、「こんにちは!」と返事するのを聞くのはいつも楽しいです。
