Kia Ora! As we enjoy the cool days of November here, let’ s take a short trip to New Zealand and discover the cheerful A and P Show! That means “Agricultural and Pastoral Show” . It is a big outdoor fair that celebrates farm life and community spirit.
At the show, families watch fast sheep shearing, elegant horse jumping, and exciting wood chopping races. Children can meet friendly animals, and touch soft wool. There are many stalls with fresh local food, ice cream, pies, honey, and crafts, plus farm tools and demonstrations that show how food and fiber are made. Music, small shows, and gentle carnival rides create a happy, friendly mood.
People love the A and P Show because it brings the city and countryside together, supports local farmers, and helps everyone learn where our milk, meat, fruit, and wool come from.
In New Zealand, these shows happen in spring, often in October and November, when the weather is mild and flowers are blooming. The largest one is in Christchurch in mid-November, but many towns host their own versions too. If you ever visit New Zealand at this time, the A　and　P Show is a perfect day out! Simple, lively, and full of Kiwi warmth.

キアオラ!11月の涼しいこの季節、気分はニュージーランドへ。にぎやかなA　and　Pショーをご紹介します。A　and　Pは“Agricultural　and　PastoralShow(農業・牧畜ショー)”のこと。農業の暮らしとコミュニティの精神を祝う、大きな屋外フェアです。
会場では、すばやい羊の毛刈り、優雅な馬のジャンプ、迫力の丸太伐り競技を見ることができます。子どもたちは人なつこい動物とふれ合い、やわらかい羊毛に触れられます。新鮮な地元の食べ物やアイスクリーム、パイ、はちみつ、クラフトの屋台がずらりと並び、農具の展示や、食べ物や繊維がどのように作られるかを見せる実演もあります。音楽や小さなショー、ゆったりした遊園地の乗り物が、楽しくてフレンドリーな雰囲気をつくります。
A　and　Pショーが愛されるのは、町と田舎をつなぎ、地元の農家を応援し、私たちの牛乳・肉・果物・羊毛がどこから来るのかをみんなが学べるからです。ニュージーランドでは春、たいてい10月や11月に開かれ、天気が穏やかで花が咲く季節です。最大のショーは11月中旬にクライストチャーチで行われますが、多くの町でもそれぞれ開催されます。
この時期にニュージーランドを訪れるなら、A　and　Pショーは一日のお出かけにぴったり!シンプルでにぎやか、そしてキウイらしい温かさにあふれています。
