Today,we’re going to talk about LGBT rights in America.
今日は、アメリカにおけるLGBTの権利についてお話しします。

When you think of the United States,some of you may think of “equalrights”.
And the United States is a country where equal marriage is recognized.
アメリカといえば、「平等の権利」を思い浮かべる人もいると思います。そして、アメリカは同性婚が認められている国です。

But did you know that it has not always been this way?
しかし、昔からこうだったわけではないことをご存知ですか?

For many years,America had a domestic partnership system that is like what exists in Japan today.The first city to recognize domestic partnerships was West Hollywood,CA in 1985.
アメリカには長年、現在の日本とよく似たパートナーシップ証明制度がありました。1985年に、カリフォルニア州西ハリウッド市はパートナーシップ証明制度を認定した最初の都市となりました。

Many Americans be lieved that people should be able to marry the person they love,regardless of gender.It took a long time but in 2015,marriage equality was legalized by the Supreme Court.
多くのアメリカ人は、性別に関係なく、愛する人と結婚する権利を持つべきだと考えていました。長い時間がかかりましたが、2015年に最高裁で同性婚が認められました。

Although there are many cultural differences between the U.S.and Japan,I believe that the common value is a society where the human rights of all people are respected.Sanuki City is a wonderful place where everyone is kind!
アメリカと日本には多くの文化の違いがありますが、共通する価値観は、すべての人の人権が尊重される社会であることだと思います。さぬき市は、誰もが親切で素晴らしい場所です!
