Hello everyone! August is a very hot month, so I hope you are all enjoying a more comfortable September.
Now that the summer is over, I am happy to see fall colors beginning! In Hokkaido, fall comes very early, and I can wear a sweater by the end of September. Where I grew up, I usually did not have to wear long sleeve clothes until the end of October or even November if it was a hot year.
Aibetsu is defi nitely colder, but it is a lot prettier than southern California during the fall.
I was able to see many beautiful places during summer vacation, and I hope to travel more now that the weather is comfortable. The picture I used this month was from this summer during my fi nal trip with Amy to Shiretoko–she had never been, and so we drove up to see it before she left.
We saw waterfalls, whales, an eagle, and even two bears while we were there. We also went to a chipmunk zoo and fed chipmunks. It was a lot of fun!
Now that Connor is here, I hope she can also come and see the many amazing places all over Hokkaido too. As always, if you see me around town I am happy to talk. Have a wonderful fall.

皆さん、こんにちは!8月に比べ9月は気温が低く、皆さん快適にお過ごしでしょうか。夏も終わり、紅葉が咲き始めるのを見ることができてうれしいです!北海道は秋の訪れがとても早く、9月末にはセーターを着られるようになります。私の故郷では、10月から11月までは長袖を着る必要がありませんでした。愛別町は確かに寒いですが、秋は南カリフォルニアよりもずっと美しいです。
夏休み中はたくさんの美しい場所を見ることができました。気候も快適になったので、もっと旅行をしたいと思っています。今月の写真は、エイミーと知床へ行った最後の旅行の時のものです。彼女は知床に一度も行ったことがなかったので、彼女が帰国する前に車で知床へ行きました。滞在中は滝やクジラ、ワシそしてクマを2頭も見ました。シマリス公園にも行き、餌やりも体験しました。本当に楽しかったです。
新たなALTのコナーがきたので、彼女にも北海道中の素晴らしい場所を見てもらえることを願っています。いつものように、町で見かけたら喜んでお話させていただきます。素敵な秋をお過ごしください。
