Aloha, Nakatombetsu!
The 5th graders at the elementary school have started a new unit on English at a　restaurant. They are learning how to order from a menu and how to pay their bill at the　cashier. Have you ever been abroad and ordered at a restaurant?
In America, restaurant culture is different than in Japan. First of all, it is considered　rude to call out for your waiter or waitress. You should wait for them to come to your　table to order from the menu. In Japan, you would normally call the waiter or waitress　when you are ready to order. In America, when you are finished with your meal, you　wait for the bill at your table and pay right at the table, while you are seated. (Don’t　forget about the tip!) While in Japan, you take your bill to the cashier in front of the　restaurant and pay there.
These are just a couple of cultural differences about eating at a restaurant. What　other cultural differences do you know about the restaurant?
