Aloha, Nakatombetsu!
In Hawaii, many colleges and universities have their graduations in May. High schools　have their graduations in May and June. Taking part in a graduation in Hawaii is a　unique and emotional opportunity. It’s a huge event with many people – family　members and friends all come out to support the graduates. We don’t have graduation　ceremonies for elementary school or junior high school. The graduates wear a cap and　gown and celebrate while receiving a diploma. At the end of graduation, graduates are　given lei, made of flowers, ribbons, yarns, and even candy. When I graduated from high　school, I remember getting more than 50 lei!
June is the beginning of summer vacation for many students. Summer break lasts for　about a month and school resumes in July or August. Some universities start back in　session in September! Summer vacation is quite long in Hawaii and America.

アロハ、中頓別の皆さん!
ハワイでは、多くの大学が5月に卒業式を行います。高校は5月と6月に卒業式があります。ハワイでの卒業式に参加することは、ユニークで感情的な機会です。多くの人が参加する大きなイベントです。家族や友人が卒業生を応援するために来ています。小学校や中学校の卒業式はありません。卒業生は帽子とガウンを着て卒業証書を受け取りながら祝います。卒業式の最後に、卒業生には花やリボン、毛糸、さらにはキャンディーで作られたレイが贈られます。高校を卒業したとき、50個以上レイをもらったことを覚えています!
6月は多くの学生にとって夏休みの始まりです。夏休みは約1ヶ月間続き、7月または8月に学校が再開されます。一部の大学は9月に再開します!ハワイとアメリカでは夏休みがかなり長いですね。
