■Christmas(クリスマス)

It’s December! I can’t wait to see the streets covered in that magical, shimmering snow that reminds me of cozy winter days-sitting by the fireplace with my family, sipping hot cocoa, and sharing stories.
Christmas is just around the corner, and I can’t help but think back to my very first Christmas in Japan.
In the West, Japan is famously known for its KFC Christmas meal-a completely new tradition for many of us foreigners. Naturally, I wanted to experience it too! So, my friends and I ordered a Christmas meal, and on December 25th we picked it up and went home to enjoy it together.
Our apartment was beautifully decorated with Christmas colors and ornaments. We played festive games, watched classic Christmas movies, and eventually fell asleep surrounded by laughter and warmth. That was the first Christmas I had ever spent away from my family, and yet, I didn’t feel as lonely or empty as I thought I would.
I realized that I had found a new kind of family here in Japan-people from different countries and cultures, but who shared the same sense of togetherness. Somehow, we had created a home away from home.
Christmas, in the West and everywhere, has a wonderful way of bringing people together and filling hearts with love and warmth.

12月になりました!街が魔法のようにきらめく雪に覆われるのが待ち遠しいです。雪を見ると、家族と一緒に暖炉のそばに座ってホットココアを飲みながら、おしゃべりをして過ごした穏やかな冬の日々を思い出します。クリスマスはもうすぐそこまで来ていますが、私はどうしても日本で過ごした初めてのクリスマスのことを思い出してしまいます。
西洋では、日本といえばKFC(ケンタッキーフライドチキン)のクリスマスディナーが有名ですが、私たち外国人にとっては全く新しい習慣です。もちろん、私もぜひ体験してみたかったんです!そこで、私と友人たちはクリスマスセットを注文し、12月25日に受け取り、家に持ち帰って一緒に楽しみました。
私たちのアパートは、クリスマスカラーと装飾品できれいに飾りつけしてありました。私たちは楽しいゲームをしたり、クリスマスの名作映画を観たりして、そのうち笑い声と温かさに包まれながら眠りにつきました。それは私が初めて家族と離れて過ごしたクリスマスでしたが、思っていたほど寂しさや虚しさを感じることはありませんでした。
私は日本で、新しい家族を見つけたことに気づきました。出身国や文化は違っても、同じように強い絆で結ばれた人々です。私たちは、まるで第二の故郷のような場所を作り上げていたのです。
クリスマスは、西洋だけでなく世界中のあらゆる場所で、人々を結びつけ、心に愛と温かさを満たしてくれる素晴らしい力を持っています。皆さんにとって、喜びにあふれた12月、そして素敵なクリスマスになりますように!
