■Filipino Christmas
Kumusta! How was Halloween for you? Did you do anything special? We’ re now in this year’ s winter season! For Japanese people, Christmas is celebrated as a time for friends and couples to gather and do enjoy spending time together. It is a time to see illumination lights and have romantic dates. However, this event is celebrated differently in the Philippines. This is what I’ d like to talk about for this month. Christmas in the Philippines is prepared as early as September. It is the biggest event in my country. I’ ll discuss three things I enjoy doing during Christmas. The first is making a parol. Parol is a star-shaped lantern made of bamboo, strings, and paper. They are usually made with light bulbs inside to light up the night, but they can be made without it. It is fun and exciting to see them lit up at night. The second thing is caroling. This activity is done by groups of people who go to different houses and sing Christmas songs. They use instruments and carry lyric books to make an amazing performance for the neighbors to witness. The last activity is to enjoy Noche Buena. It’ s tradition for people to stay up late to welcome Christmas Day and enjoy Noche Buena, which is a lavish feast enjoyed by families. Christmas is a great opportunity for family members who have been away for so long to come and see their friends and families and spend time together.
■フィリピンのクリスマス
こんにちは!ハロウィンはどうでしたか?何か特別なことをしましたか?冬の季節になりました!日本人にとって、クリスマスは友達やカップルが集まり、一緒に楽しい時間を過ごす時期として祝われます。イルミネーションを見たり、ロマンチックなデートを楽しんだりする時期です。しかし、このイベントはフィリピンでは異なる方法で祝われます。今月はこれについてお話ししたいと思います。フィリピンでのクリスマスは、早くも9月から準備が始まります。これは私の国で最も大きなイベントです。私はクリスマスの間に楽しむこと3つについて話します。最初はパロルを作ることです。パロルは竹、ひも、紙で作られた星形のランタンです。通常、夜に光るように電球が中に入れられますが、電球なしでも作ることができます。夜にライトアップされるのを見るのは楽しくてワクワクします。二つ目はキャロリングです。この活動は、複数の人々がグループでさまざまな家を訪れ、クリスマスの歌を歌うことによって行われます。彼らは楽器を使い、歌詞の本を持って、隣人たちに素晴らしいパフォーマンスを見せます。最後のアクティビティはノチェ・ブエナを楽しむことです。クリスマスの日を迎えるために遅くまで起きているのが伝統で、家族で楽しむ豪華なご馳走であるノチェ・ブエナを楽しみます。クリスマスは、長い間離れていた家族が友人や家族に会い、一緒に時間を過ごす絶好の機会です。
