Kumusta! It’ s the start of the summer vacation! How are you doing these days? I hope everyone is doing okay as we are all under the harsh heat of summer. Speaking of summer, do you know what is usually held during this season? That’ s right! Festivals! Festivals are a way of celebrating the things we have in our lives. This is what I’ d like to talk about for this month. There are many festivals held all over the world, but one of the special events in the Philippines is the Kadayawan festival. Every 2nd or 3rd week of August, this festival is held in the city of Davao. It is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living. You can see the street performers wearing clothes with vibrant colors. They do a very heartfelt performance which is one of the highlights of the event.
On the last day of this celebration, a floral float parade is shown to the public. It’ s one of the locals’ favorite part of the festival as the smell of the flowers spreads throughout the street. Business establishments such as malls, car companies, and shops decorate their buildings with floral floats. Whoever has the best looking floral float can get a prize. This festival started as a simple celebration for the harvests people made. Now, it has evolved into a large-scale cultural event that attracts thousands of tourists and locals alike.

こんにちは!夏休みの始まりです!最近どうしていますか?みんなが厳しい夏の暑さの中で元気でいることを願っています。夏と言えば、この季節に通常行われるものは何か知っていますか?そうです!祭りです!祭りは私たちの生活の中にあるものを祝う方法です。今月はこれについて話したいと思います。世界中で多くの祭りが行われていますが、フィリピンの特別なイベントの一つはカダヤワン祭りです。毎年8月の第2週または第3週に、ダバオ市でこの祭りが開催されます。これは生命の祝福であり、自然の恵み、豊作への感謝、そして穏やかに暮らすことへの感謝を表しています。鮮やかな色の服を着たストリートパフォーマーを見ることができます。
彼らは非常に心のこもったパフォーマンスを行い、イベントのハイライトの一つです。この祝祭の最終日には、花の浮き船パレードが一般公開されます。花の香りが通りに広がるため、地元の人々にとって祭りの最も好きな部分の一つです。ショッピングモール、自動車会社、店舗などの商業施設は、花の浮き船で建物を装飾します。
最も美しい花の浮き船を持っている人には賞品が贈られます。この祭りは人々の収穫を祝うシンプルな祝賀として始まりました。今では、何千人もの観光客や地元の人々を惹きつける大規模な文化イベントに進化しました。
