Fall is already here, and winter appears to be coming quickly this year. Even though　these seasons mean shorter days, colder nights, and lots and lots of snow, I am always　excited for the holidays that are celebrated this time of year. One of my favorite　holidays is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is an American national holiday that is　celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. Originally, Thanksgiving was created　to give thanks for the past year’s harvest. Today, Thanksgiving is a day where family　and friends will gather and celebrate with a large meal. We eat turkey, ham, green　beans, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and many other delicious foods. Before we eat,we will take turns saying what we are thankful for. For example, people will say things　like “I am thankful for my friends and family”, “I am thankful for my health”, “I am　thankful for my job”, and so on. For these reasons, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite　holidays in America. I cannot celebrate Thanksgiving with family in person this year, but　I look forward to celebrating this Thanksgiving by gathering with the friends I have　made here, sharing a meal, and taking time to be thankful for what I have here in　Nakatombetsu.

もう秋がやってきて、今年は冬も早く来ているみたいですね。この季節は、昼が短く、夜が寒く、雪がたくさん降るということになりますが、毎年この時期にお祝いされる休日にはいつもワクワクしています。僕の好きな休日の一つはサンクスギビングです。サンクスギビングは11月の第4木曜日に祝われるアメリカの祝日です。もともとサンクスギビングは、昨年の収穫に感謝するために作られました。今日のサンクスギビングは、家族や友人が集まり、盛大な食事でお祝いする日です。七面鳥、ハム、インゲン豆、マッシュポテト、パンプキンパイ、その他多くのおいしい食べ物をご馳走します。食べる前に、感謝の言葉を順番にお伝えします。例えば、「友達や家族に感謝している」、「健康に感謝している」、「仕事に感謝している」などです。このような理由から、サンクスギビングは僕がアメリカで一番好きな休日の一つです。今年は家族で直接感謝祭をお祝いすることはできませんが、今回のサンクスギビングをここで作った友人たちと集まり、食事を共有し、中頓別にあることに感謝する時間を持つことでお祝いできることを楽しみにしています。
