■Ice Cream and Camp Update!
I’ve eaten over 110 ice creams during my time inHokkaido – and my favorite milk soft cream is still from Okoppe.
The most unforgettable flavor? Definitely the lingonberrysoft serve from the Michi-no-Eki Utoro-Shirietoku.
The hardest to eat?
That would be the yama wasabi soft serve fromMichi-no-Eki Churui. It even came with a small scoopof real wasabi on the side!
What started as an ice cream adventure also turned intoa camping journey. Whether I went solo or with friends,I found myself camping all across Hokkaido. One trip I’llnever forget was when I planned to camp near Obihiro.
At the last minute, I changed my mind because of the cold -and I’m so glad I did! That night, the rain turned into a full-on snowstorm- in mid-April. I would’ve been frozenif I hadn’t found a hotel.
Lesson learned： Stay safe and stay flexible out there!

北海道に来て、110種類以上のアイスクリームを食べましたが、一番のお気に入りはやはり興部町のミルクソフトクリームです。一番忘れられない味は?間違いなく「道の駅うとろ・シリエトク」のコケモモソフトクリームです。一番食べにくかったのは?それは「道の駅忠類」の山わさびソフトクリーム。なんと、小さな本わさびが添えられていました!
アイスクリームの冒険は、やがてキャンプの旅へと変わりました。ときには一人で、ときには友達と、北海道中をキャンプしました。忘れられない旅の一つは、帯広近郊でキャンプをする計画を立てたときのことです。しかし、直前で寒さを心配して予定を変更してしまいました。変更して本当に良かったと思っています!その夜、雨は猛吹雪に変わりました。4月中旬のことでした。ホテルが見つかっていなければ、凍えていたでしょう。
教訓：屋外では安全第一、そして柔軟な対応を!
