●A New Page
Kumusta! It’ s the start of a new year! I hope everyone had amazing experiences in the year 2024. We are now in the year 2025. Life is a book, and we get to have a new page. New Year is celebrated throughout the world, but my country celebrates the New Year di fferently. This is what I’ d like to talk about for this month. The streets are free of cars and oth er vehicles as January 1st is a public holiday. Many establishments like schools, businesses, and even government offices are closed.
Something that I don’ t think happens in Japan, one of the best traditions in my coun try is that people who live alone or are far away from their families are i nvited by families to celebrate the event together. This makes the celebration less lonely for othe rs. People also prepare the Media Noche, which is a meal preparation for the coming year. The lef tovers are never wasted though as they are shared throughout the neighborhood. Kids jump at the stroke of midnight as it is believed that by doing this, it will make them taller. Like I said before, we get to h ave a new page in our book. This is an expression that people say to each other at the beginning of the year. The book represents our entire lives, and the new page represents a new year. It’ s up to you to decide what type of story you want to write on it. What about you? カムスタ!新しい年の始まりです!旧年中は皆様が素晴らしい経験をされたことを願っています。私たちは今、2025年に生きています。人生は本のようであり、私たちは新しいページをめくろうとしています。世界中で新年が祝われますが、私の国では新年の祝い方が違います。これが今月お話ししたいことです。
フィリピンでは1月1日は祝日のため、道路には車などの車両がありません。さらには学校、企業、官公庁などの多くの施設が閉鎖されます。これは日本ではないことだと思います。また、私の国の最高の伝統の一つは、一人暮らしの人や家族から遠く離れている人を招待して一緒に新年を祝うことです。これにより、誰も孤独になることがありません。また、来年に向けた食事の準備である「メディアノーチェ」も用意されます。残り物は近所の人たちと分け合うので決して無駄にはなりません。子供たちは真夜中にジャンプします。これを行うことで背が高くなると信じられているからです。
「私たちは自分の本に新しいページを持つことができる。」これは、年の初めに人々がお互いに言い合う言葉です。本とは私たちの人生であり、新しいページは新しい年を表しています。そこにどのようなストーリーを書くかは自分次第です。皆様はいかがでしょうか。新しいページに何を書きたいですか?
