Ms. Chao-chun Yeh
Yeh Design Studio Illustrator and animator

“Dancing in the Rain”, an animated short film created by Ms. Yeh, a Taiwanese designer
living in Kuwana city, has been nominated for best short film at the New York International Children’s Film Festival. Ms.Yeh grew up in Taiwan, married her Japanese husband, and later moved to Japan for his work. She has worked as a freelance designer here ever since. In 2024, she has set up her own Design Studio, “Yeh Design Studio” while also being a mother of two. She says: “I have loved picture books since I was a child, especially Iwamura Kazuo’s The Family of Fourteen, and I used to look at the pictures a lot”. She went on to say that she “always liked art lessons and was often praised, and started drawing in high school”, which led to her current work.
The animation “didn’t come together very well when I was thinking of the story, but I managed to complete it with the help of my husband’s ideas. The sense
of fulfilment and accomplishment I feel when a film is finished is something I wouldn’t trade for anything” says Ms.Yeh. She has won awards not only in Japan
and abroad. She says with a smile, “I will produce animation and illustrations in my own style and try to create designs that warm the hearts of children and adults alike.
