●School System &amp；amp；amp；amp；amp； Graduation
Kumusta! How was the month of love for you? Did you do anything special? We are now in the month of March, the month of graduation! The graduation process in the Philippines is different from Japan’ s because of its school system. For this month, I’ d like to talk about the school system in my country, and its graduation process. In the Philippines, your c hances of graduating are always determined by your performance in school throughout the year. I f students fail to get the points needed for every subject, they’ ll start the school year in the same year all over again. For example, if you were an 8th grader, and you didn’ t get the necessary points, you’ ll be an 8th grader again in the next school year. This system starts in elementary school. When I was a student, I had classmates who were much older than me. The elementary schools and high schools don’ t have an entrance exam. However, they have a graduation exam. It gives students huge points if they pass, so most of them study for it. Students can only join the graduation ceremony if they pass all subjects. Once they pass all tests, they can finally relax and start focusing on the graduation ceremony. So what do you think about this? When I first became an English teacher here in Japan, I was surprised about the country’ s school system. The schools are greatly supported by the government, the students eat delicious and healthy lunch, and most importantly, no students are left behind. They always graduate together. I’ ve always thought the students in Japan are very lucky.

●日本とフィリピンの卒業制度
カムスタ!先月は愛の月でした。スペシャルなことはありましたでしょうか。今月は卒業の月です。フィリピンの卒業は日本の制度と異なります。なので今月は私の国の学校制度とその卒業プロセスについて話したいと思います。
フィリピンでは、卒業できるかどうかは、年間を通じての学校での成績によって決まります。すべての科目で必要な点数を獲得できなかった場合、次の年度も同じ学年を繰り返さなければなりません。たとえば、8年生だったのに必要な点数を獲得できなかった場合、次の学年では再び8年生になります。この制度は小学校から始まります。私が学生だった頃、クラスメイトには私よりずっと年上の子がいました。フィリピンの学校には入学試験はありません。しかし卒業試験はあります。合格すると大きなポイントがもらえるので、ほとんどの生徒が卒業試験に向けて勉強します。全科目合格しないと卒業式に参加できません。全てのテストに合格したら、ようやくリラックスして卒業式に集中できます。
いかがでしょうか。私が日本で初めて英語教師になったとき、この国の学校制度に驚きました。学校は政府から多大な支援を受けており、生徒たちはおいしくて健康的な昼食を食べ、そして最も重要なのは、取り残される生徒がいないことです。彼らはいつも一緒に卒業します。私は日本の学生はとても幸運だと思っています。
